Membership Information

NHS membership is by invitation. In February, all sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have a 3.8 GPA will be invited to complete a candidate form for NHS 2025-2026. Membership is only open to those students who are in their sophomore year or above. Membership is based on the 4 pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

The student candidate will be invited to apply based on the pillar of scholarship (the gpa will fulfill this). The candidate form next asks the student to provide evidence of three more pillars: involvement in the community (volunteer service hours), and involvement at PHS (clubs, sports, academics), and leadership.
 

These applications, in addition to teacher recommendations (the fourth pillar of character), are reviewed by a committee and those students whose applications are approved by the committee are offered membership in the Perry Chapter of the National Honor Society.
